Once again our sensitive Co-operative Council has understood our needs as selfish individuals and has demonstrated that for them as for the Coalition there is no such thing as society. Whilst choosing to invest millions of our money in the Southwater development at the expense of services to support vulnerable residents we can now go to bed with a smile on our faces knowing that Telford has two multiplexes and a host of multinational tax avoiding chain restaurants. So the Council knows that we, like them, would prefer more Nando’s whilst making swingeing cuts to the services for those with physical disabilities, mental health problems and with learning difficulties. We can have the choice between going out for a KFC or Pizza Express but if we have a disability our choices are fast diminishing from limited to none. As day services close or become too costly many will be stuck at home staring at four walls all day but, hey, the rest of us can now enjoy the delights of ‘IMAX’. A price worth paying?
